Power Supply Case Study

With more than 50 years of experience, our team has supported customers seeking reliable contractors for complex projects. In one instance, a client required engineering support and production of custom electronic enclosures. By reviewing the original concepts and design goals, Pyramid Fab & Finish delivered optimized solutions that met performance requirements at a lower per-unit cost.

For this project, we fabricated a large cuboid steel enclosure measuring 78” x 40” x 24”. The customer required a tight tolerance of ±0.005” and a black powder-coated finish for durability and corrosion protection. We punched mounting holes of various sizes into the cold-rolled steel using turret press equipment, and brake presses capable of bending sheets up to 12’ long formed the components.

The assembly process required careful sequencing due to the complexity of the build. A total of 43 part numbers and 101 parts were used in each enclosure. The structure incorporated 26 different PEM fastener types, totaling 92 inserts per unit, along with 200 additional hardware pieces. Skilled welders then created strong welded seams to ensure structural reliability.
