Pyramid Fab & Finish is a family-owned and operated, one-stop shop for sheet metal fabrication and powder coating. Since 1972, we have evolved into a manufacturing leader, providing customers around the world with high-quality products, ranging from small brackets to large enclosures.

Our turnkey manufacturing model is trusted across industries, and we strive to provide outstanding customer service and value in everything we do. Learn how our in-house metal fabrication process eliminates the need for outside vendors, explore our capabilities, and some common applications of our work.

How Fabrication and Coating Work Together

We offer precision in-house sheet metal forming, powder coating, and custom metal finishing services under one roof at our St. Charles, Illinois, facility. This consistency of control means your project stays with us from start to finish, for the highest level of quality and service.

Our sheet metal capabilities include manual, semi-automated, and automated processes that shape and form raw metal sheets based on part prints and customer requirements.

Powder coating is a dry finishing technique in which fluidized powders create a durable surface layer on a metal part. The technique can also provide a colored or texturized surface to meet specific application requirements. Pyramid Fab & Finish provides custom masking and racking systems to optimize coating application, accuracy, and efficiency.

From Raw Sheet Metal to Finished Product

Each project is different, based on its design and specifications. As a one-stop manufacturing shop, we can provide end-to-end services that include fabrication, powder coating, inspection, and testing services.

Fabrication

1.Fabrication. Our capabilities include forming, cutting, and welding. Parts with a raw metal finish (e.g., grinding, polishing, graining) are inspected and tested to ensure they meet customer requirements.

Surface Preparation For Powder Coating

2.Surface preparation for powder coating. Surface preparation is a five-stage pretreatment process that includes reverse osmosis and multi-metal acidic cleaning to enhance powder adhesion.

Powder Coating Application For Appearance And Durability

3.Powder coating application for appearance and durability. We use a spray booth with 24 robotic spray guns. Powder is applied, then the coated parts pass through a custom-designed Faraday cage to ensure full coverage.

Curing

4.Curing. The coated components are placed into a dedicated curing oven set to the appropriate temperature for the coating material.

Inspection and Testing

5.Inspection and testing. This includes chemical rub, gloss meter, impact resistance, and scratch adhesion verification.

These steps involve an in-house handoff between teams, resulting in efficient transport without delays.

Eliminating Outsourcing and Logistics Costs

Our integrated capabilities mean your project remains under our control throughout production. Additional benefits of working with a single vendor are:

  • Fewer shipping steps and simpler logistics.
  • No risk of damage in transit.
  • Shorter turnaround times.

Consistent Quality From Start to Finish

Instead of relying on additional vendors, we produce and powder coat components in-house to meet our customers’ specifications, as well as delivering ISO-level precision, and coating durability standards. For every project, we make sure that:

  • Coatings match project specifications.
  • Tolerances are maintained.
  • Visual consistency.

The Benefits of One-Stop Fabrication and Finishing

Working with a single team for in-house metal fabrication and powder coating simplifies your supply chain, eliminates the need to juggle multiple vendors, and reduces overall production costs. Additional benefits include:

Enhanced Quality Control

Enhanced Quality Control

Our dedicated quality control team is involved in both the fabrication and finishing processes to verify that specifications are met. The result is catching any errors early in the process, fewer part defects, better coating adhesion, and a more consistent coating thickness.

Faster Turnaround Times

Faster Turnaround Times

Working with only one facility equates to shorter lead times. For example, a bracket order can be fabricated and coated in a few days rather than weeks because it does not travel from one shop to another.

Lower Total Project Costs

Lower Total Project Costs

Eliminating the middleman and the cost of extra freight reduces material handling and lowers damage risks.

Streamlined Communication

Streamlined Communication

Because we coordinate all aspects of your project the risk of miscommunication between departments and processes is very low. It is also easier for you to track every stage of your order and get in touch with our team as needed.
